Cost of living Perth

It is a well-known fact that Australia has one of the highest costs of living in the world, with WA being the highest in the country. I recently did a poll on both my personal and Active Eating Facebook walls to find out what the average spend is for an adult on groceries per week. The general consensus was 2/3 people spend between $100-$150 on groceries per week per person and 1/3 people spend between $150-$250 on groceries per week per person.

If we then factor in that most Perthians spend at least $4-5 per day on their morning coffee, you are easily looking at another $20-25 per week, and that’s if you only get ONE! How many of you get multiple coffees/teas per day? How many of you are also adding that cheeky brownie or muffin that looks too good to resist? … (guilty)

There are several other things to factor in when one considers the weekly cost of living. There is eating out once or twice a week with your significant other or friends. Let’ call that a conservative $30-50 per week.

There is then your gym membership, which ranges anywhere from $10-40 per week depending on where you train. If you are a gym goer there is the likelihood that you are doing at least one private Personal Training Session per week, at somewhere between $75-100 per 45 minutes depending on your trainer and their level of experience.

If we do a quick tally up of that, picking a price in the middle of each bracket we settle on $350 per week #adultingisexpensive
